EMEA and the University of Barcelona sign MoU to enhance collaboration on the Euro-Mediterranean and Africa ecosystems

The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), represented by its Founder and President, Prof. Rym Ayadi, and the University of Barcelona (UB), represented by Prof. Joan Guardia-Olmos, UB Rector, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the purpose to enhance collaboration on the Euro-Mediterranean and Africa ecosystems, enhance expert knowledge in the regions and support transparent inclusive social and economic development with a particular emphasis on expertise, sharing of knowledge, co-funding and dissemination to support a transformation towards a transparent sustainable transition in the Mediterranean and Africa.

In this sense, the Parties will cooperate where and when feasible and appropriate, aiming at maximizing bilateral and multilateral Euro-Mediterranean and Euro-African cooperation from a global and sustainable perspective.

The University of Barcelona is a public university located in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia in Spain. With 63,000 students it is one of the biggest universities in Spain and also one of the oldest universities in Catalonia, established in 1450. It is considered one the best universities in Spain as it has been ranked 1st in Spain in most of the 2021-2022 rankings and is located around the 50th place in Europe. It has 106 departments and more than 5,000 full-time researchers, technicians and research assistants, most of whom work in the 243 research groups as recognized and supported by the Government of Catalonia.

The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association -EMEA is a Barcelona-based regional think-tank that serves as a leading independent and innovative policy research institution; a forum for debate on the political and socio-economic reforms in Mediterranean and Africa; and promoter of actions and initiatives that fulfil objectives of sustainability, inclusiveness, regional integration and prosperity.
