The WeMind Cluster Highlights Brain Transition Economy and EMEA Partnership in its “Brain” Journal

The WeMind Cluster, a partner organization of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), published the article “Brain Transition Economy: Towards a Regenerative Well-being Economy” in its December 2024 issue. Authored by Marta S. Bret, Director of the WeMind Cluster, the article explores the concept of the Brain Transition Economy, as presented by Prof. Rym Ayadi, President of EMEA and co-founder of the Brain Capital Alliance and the Brain Economy Hub, during the WeMind International Forum 2024 in Barcelona.

This innovative economic model places brain capital and natural capital at the core of a regenerative well-being economy. It advocates for moving beyond traditional, unsustainable growth models toward an economic framework that prioritizes resilience, equity, and sustainability. It highlights three urgent global challenges: the mental health crisis, environmental degradation, and widening income inequality. The article emphasizes the need for a global shift in economic priorities, integrating well-being indicators into policy-making and investment strategies.

Marta S. Bret reaffirms the WeMind Cluster’s commitment to supporting the transition towards well-being-centered economic models and mental health-focused societies. She emphasizes that the organization will continue its collaboration with EMEA, Rice University, and the Brain Capital Alliance to drive this transformation forward.

The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA and the Assoc. Clúster Salut Mental de Catalunya “We Mind Cluster”, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 2024, with the purpose of enhancing collaboration on the Euro-Mediterranean and African ecosystems, enhancing expert knowledge in the regions and support transparent, inclusive social and economic development with a particular emphasis on expertise, sharing of knowledge, co-funding and dissemination to support a transformation towards a transparent, sustainable transition in the Mediterranean and Africa.
