Prof. Rym Ayadi participates at the 2021 EBA Policy Research Workshop as Chair of the Banking Stakeholders Group

The President of EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, Professor at The Bayes Business School (Former CASS), and Chair of the Banking Stakeholders Group (BSG) of the European Banking Authority (EBA) participated at the 2021 EBA Policy Research Workshop: “The New Normal in the Banking Sector – Reshaping the Insights” which took place online on 16 and 17 November 2021.

The workshop opened with a welcome speech by José Manuel Campa, EBA Chair, and a keynote speech by Hyun Song Shin, Economic Adviser and Head of Research at the BIS with the title: “Have we avoided the Covid insolvency wave?”

Prof. Ayadi discussed the paper “Liquidity Insurance vs. Credit Provision: Evidence from the COVID-19 Crisis”, which was presented by Tumer Kapan, IMF, and Camelia Minoiu, Federal Reserve Board, at the Session “COVID-19”, chaired by Jacob Gyntelberg, EBA. The paper studies the link between the unexpected surge in credit line drawdowns in March-April 2020 and banks’ subsequent lending decisions.
