The Founder and President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participated at the webinar “Bridging divides: Trust in Globalization”, which was co-organised by the Victoria Forum, the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.
The event was moderated by Lord Jack McConnell, House of Lords, UK, and the panel included Dr. Yasuyuki Sawada, Chief Economist, Asian Development Bank, and Mr. Erol Yayboke, Deputy Director, Project on Prosperity and Development, Centre for Strategic and International Studies. The webinar took place on 03 September 2020 and had participants from 25 countries.
In her intervention Prof. Rym Ayadi highlighted that “Europe has shown to the world that EU regional integration matters and can be advanced during hardships – the recovery plan approved by the EU institutions is a clear evidence for regional solidarity and unity”. She also underlined that “The AfCFTA and the EU-Africa new partnership will drive regional integration forward. Africa has to benefit from the solidarity to recover while cleaning up their debt burden and adhere to full transparency when borrowing.”
