Prof. Rym Ayadi chaired the policy panel of the International Workshop on Financial System Architecture and Stability – IWFSAS 2020

The President of EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, chaired the policy panel of IWFSAS 2020 which discussed the current thinking and policy actions towards climate change policies with a focus on the EU green deal and amidst global challenges (including. The COVID 19 pandemic). The panel emphasised the role of the financial and investment community. Panel members were Andrea Bertarelli, Member of Cabinet of Vice-President Valdis Dombrovksis, Alyssa Heath, Head of EU & UK Policy with the Principles for Responsible Investment, and Misa Tanaka, Head of Research at the Bank of England.

Prof. Ayadi highlighted that the adoption of a European Green Deal is the most courageous move at a global level towards de-carbonizing the European economy towards 2050 and would certainly provide the leadership to the EU in this field.

She also underlined that “climate change and environmental challenges remain undoubtedly a great research area for academics and a high priority for policymakers and for international organizations and all economic players involved in the green transition, and that financial institutions have a key role to play in the mobilisation of the necessary resources to tackle climate change and mitigate its effects and they seem to be committed to the green transition”

IWFSAS 2020 was hosted by the Centre for Banking Research at The Business School – formerly Cass, in collaboration with the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria and the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), and took place on 10-11 September 2020 on Zoom.
