Paper on Debt Transparency by Prof. Rym Ayadi published at the Atlantic Currents

The 2021 Issue of the Atlantic Currents “The COVID-19 Crisis Viewed from the South” published the paper “Preventing and Managing Debt Crises: The Role of Debt Transparency”, authored by Prof. Rym Ayadi, EMEA President, Professor at The Business School (Former CASS), and Senior Advisor, CEPS. The paper assesses the key risks stemming from debt unsustainability in low-income countries (LICs) and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as the key debt transparency initiatives promoted by international organizations and the private sector.

It is based on the Policy Paper “Time to Implement a Tech-Driven Sovereign Debt Transparency Initiative: Concept, Design, and Policy Actions”, authored by Prof. Rym Ayadi and Prof. Emilios Avgouleas, Chair in International Banking Law and Finance at the University of Edinburgh, and member of the EMEA advisory Board, which has been published by the T20 and has been Included in G20 Insights.  Based on the Paper EMEA has already launched the Debt Transparency Initiative and the Debt Transparency Platform.

The Atlantic Current’s 7th edition provides a unique overview and in-depth analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic as seen from the Atlantic, and the challenges it poses for the region. It is published by the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS), a Moroccan think tank aiming to contribute to the improvement of economic and social public policies that challenge Morocco and the rest of Africa as integral parts of the global South.
