The Economic Notes published the paper “Financial development and employment: New panel evidence” in their February 2021 issue. The paper has been co-authored by Prof. Rym Ayadi, Banking Stakeholders Group of the European Banking Authority, President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, and Honorary Professor at the Business School (former CASS), Dr. Ben Naceur Acting Division Chief of the African Division in the IMF’s Institute for Capacity Development (ICD), member of EMEA Expert Panel, and Mohamed Goaied, Head of Finance and Economics Department, College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, and also member of EMEA Expert Panel.
The paper adds to the recent literature on finance and employment creation by exploring the effect of finance on the labour market, using data on 143 countries from 1995 to 2015. It also examines whether the impact of financial development on labour is significantly different before and after the 2008 global financial crisis. It is based on the paper “Financial development and employment: New evidence” published by EMNES.
