EMEA Supports Launch of the Spanish Territorial Antenna for the Community for Living Areas in Valencia

On Thursday 27 March, the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA) co-organised and supported the official launch of the Spanish Territorial Antenna as part of the Community for Living Areas (C4LA) initiative. EMEA Senior Sustainability Expert, Magalí Outters, and EMEA Researcher Daisy Vaughan supported and engaged in the event, held at the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP). The event brought together all 11 Spanish Project Partners, marking a significant step toward strengthening collaboration, knowledge exchange, and visibility across thematic projects operating under the Green Living Areas Mission.

Organised in collaboration with MedCities and with the support of Fundación MUSOL, the event served as a dynamic space to foster synergies among Spanish partners and align their efforts with the broader mission goals. EMEA, as co-leader of the governance axis of the Green Living Areas Mission and coordinator of C4LA, contributed its thematic expertise and facilitated sessions on policy coordination, project alignment, and collaborative planning.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in structured activities and open exchanges focused on key topics such as energy transition, urban mobility, community participation, and nature-based solutions. These discussions laid the groundwork for future cooperation and identified opportunities to amplify the impact of project results at both national and Mediterranean levels.

The agenda also introduced the role of the Territorial Antennas as national coordination points, showcasing how they can enhance the dissemination of results, encourage replication, and act as catalysts for joint initiatives. By mapping key milestones, policy windows and opportunities, and strategic alignments, the Spanish Antenna aims to become a central platform for inter-project collaboration and outreach.

EMEA thanks all participating projects for their active engagement, including Bauhaus4Med, CO2 Pacman, EnerCmed Project, GARDEN, E-MED, LOGREENER, NUDGES, RE-MED, RENEWPORT, Rural Mobility, and URWAN, as well as the FVMP for hosting our event.

EMEA is organising the second meeting of the Thematic Community in May 2025 in Barcelona. To learn more about the Green Living Areas Mission, head to the website.

The Green Living Areas Mission aims to improve the lives of Mediterranean citizens by promoting the development of green living areas. As part of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, the Mission undertakes projects that bring local communities to life with green development at their centre, reducing negative climate impacts on the region’s ecosystems, and enhancing climate resilience. EMEA is a project partner of Community4LivingAreas and co-leads coordination.
