Dr. Carlo Sessa, Senior Researcher and Executive Board Member of EMEA, participated in training on urban biodiversity and pathways towards sustainability organized by the University of Milan (POLIMI) and the parent company POLIEDRA in Milan, on 20-24 January 2025. The event delivered training sessions on urban ecology, urban biodiversity indicators and methods for urban green infrastructure management, and hosted discussions with participants from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Albania on transferability of the experiences and good practices on going in Milan to local contexts in the widening partners’ countries.
Dr. Sessa delivered as closing remarks a systemic perspective of the different CROSS-REIS activities, that combined the aim of sharing knowledge and capacities across the countries (thinking globally dimension) with that of implementing living labs within the widening partners countries (act locally dimension). Eventually the purpose is developing scientific outcomes (launching a new international Journal of Regenerative Economics) and practical outcomes because of living lab activities, including the co-design of new Research & Innovation proposals on regenerative topics.
The Cross-disciplinary Network for Research Excellence in Regenerative Economy Innovation Ecosystems (CROSS-REIS) is committed to advancing knowledge and research that fosters regenerative economies. Regenerative economies are built upon principles that not only sustain but restore and revitalize natural ecosystems and societal well-being. In this context, CROSS-REIS brings together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from across Europe and the Mediterranean region to engage in collaborative efforts to enhance research capacities and develop innovative solutions.
