Dr. Cynthia Echave, Project Coordinator at the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), was the keynote speaker at the University of Oregon Barcelona Urban Design Program directed by Prof. Philip Speranza and co-taught with Ignacio Lopez. The event was organised by the University of Oregon and the American Universities Institute located in Barcelona and took place on 25 July 2022.
Together with other professors and experts on urban planning and landscape, such as Mary Polites, Gabino Carballo and Ryan Kiesler, she discussed with the students their projects for urban design and street design for applying the Superilla model in several neighborhoods of Barcelona. Cynthia utilized her expertise in livability theory and metrics both via her former work with the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona and her current EMEA project on ETU Initiative working on ecosystem thinking applied to small cities and islands.
