EMEA President, Prof. Rym Ayadi participates in discussion on the decarbonisation of build environment

The President of EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participated in the event “Built Environment in the Spotlight: Decarbonizing Buildings Across Finland and the U.S.” hosted by the Consulate General of Finland in New York and Business Finland on 19 September 2024.

New York and Finland are both leaders in addressing climate issues, with shared priorities like energy efficiency and circular cities. At the core of the discussions were the actionable strategies and innovations driving the transition to not only smart and sustainable, but also brain-healthy buildings and built environment.

Prof. Ayadi highlighted “Our inbuilt environment must factor in the twin objectives to harness brain capital and nature capital. The design of our cities territories and buildings is not only about aesthetics functionality and economic returns; it is about creating environments that nurture human potential, foster creativity, and promote mental well-being—key ingredients for driving a brain-positive economy and well-being economy. In addition, sustainable urban planning must mitigate and adapt to climate change, ensuring that our built environments are resilient and future-proof, supporting both human and environmental health.”
