EMEA President Prof. Rym Ayadi participates at the 2nd EMGN Annual Conference

The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi participated at the 2nd Euro-Mediterranean Guarantee Network (EMGN) Annual Conference which took place online on 24 January 2022. The Conference started with welcome speeches by H.E. Nasser Kamel, Secretary General, Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), and Nagla Bahr, Managing Director, Credit Guarantee Company, Egypt, Lead Representative of EMGN.

Prof. Ayadi moderated the session “Meeting the Needs for More Risk-Sharing Arrangements” and she highlighted that “the role of counter-guarantees is transformational for a post covid 19 recovery strategy”.

The session panel included May Abu-El-Naga, Subgovernor, Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Guy Selbherr, President, European Association of Guarantee Institutions (AECM), and José Fernando Figueiredo, Chairman, Agrogarante – Sociedade de Garantia Mútua, Portugal and Co-Coordinator, Global Network of Guarantee Institutions (GNGI), Special Honorary Chairman AECM.

The Euro-Mediterranean Guarantee Network – EMGN seeks to alleviate the region’s structural constraints for MSMEs to access to finance by gathering guarantee schemes active in the countries of the Euro-Mediterranean. It is promoted by the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, the European Institute of the Mediterranean – IEMed, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – GIZ.
