EMEA President Prof. Rym Ayadi and EMEA Executive Board member Kwame Sarpong Barnieh participate at the 1st African ESG Summit

The President and Founder of EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, and Kwame Sarpong Barnieh, Partner KPMG, Ghana, and member of the Executive Board of EMEA participated at the First African ESG Summit, which took place at the Hotel “The Residence” in Tunis, Tunisia on 09 May 2024.

The Summit was organised by the Tunisian Business Magazine and EMEA partner, “Managers”, who invited international and Tunisian experts to share their know-how to help managers and entrepreneurs adopt the ESG philosophy in their operations.

The Summit opened with a welcome address by Sahar Mechri, Managers Magazine Executive Director and member of the EMEA Expert Panel. After the welcome address by Kwame Sarpong Barnieh delivered the keynote speech of the Summit: “Activate your ESG strategy and discover your ESG superpower”

Prof. Ayadi participated in the panel “The costs of inaction and risk assessment for businesses” where she underlined:

“In an era where ESG compliance is not just a moral obligation but a regulatory imperative, companies stand at a crossroads. Ignoring these principles not only invites regulatory repercussions but also constricts the avenues of financing.

As regulations tighten and investors increasingly favor sustainability, social imperatives and good governance principles, the cost of inaction escalates, potentially stranding non-compliant businesses in a landscape that favors the prepared and the proactive.”

The panel included Mariem Bouchala, ESG analytics manager, HSBC and  Hanen Ben Ayed, Expert in Green Finance and ESG Reporting. It was moderated by Wassim Belarbi.
