The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participated at the webinar “One year of SME and entrepreneurship policy responses to COVID-19: Lessons learned to “build back better” which was co-organised by OECD and the International Network for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises – INSME, on 20 May 2021.
During her intervention Prof. Ayadi highlighted that “To support recovery post Covid-19 SMES and entrepreneurship policies must be adapted to factor in the economic vulnerabilities accumulated during the pandemic. Furthermore, viable and unviable SMES must be managed separately with different policy and financial measures.”
Since the outset of the COVID-19 crisis, the OECD has surveyed its impact on SMEs and entrepreneurs and the SME and entrepreneurship policy responses worldwide. The webinar discussed the way SME and entrepreneurship policies can evolve to deal with the transformative impact of the pandemic, which has accelerated earlier trends but also brought to the fore the urgency of more resilient and sustainable business models.
