The President of EMEA Prof. Rym Ayadi, and EMEA researcher Sara Ronco, participated at Side Event on Regional Integration which was organised in the framework of the 6th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, on 29 November 2021 in Barcelona, Spain.
The event presented the key takeaways of the first UfM Progress Report on Regional Integration, which was commissioned by the UfM to the OECD. The report shows that integration has advanced in the UfM region, but progress has been slow and remains below its potential in terms of capacities and resources. The report highlights two important challenges that still stand: inadequate infrastructure for transport and energy connectivity, and a lack of common vision on human mobility as a driver of innovation and growth in the region.
