EMEA holds final advocacy session providing policy recommendations to for economic prosperity and sustainability in the Southern Mediterranean for INVESTMED project

On Monday 11th December 2023, the Euro-Mediterranean Economists’ Association held the final Advocacy Session focusing on Building an Enabling Environment for Entrepreneurs in the Southern Mediterranean for the INVESTMED Project.

The panellists were:

  1. Sandra Challita, Associate Professor in Finance at Emlyon Business School and Research Fellow at EMEA, discussing eduation and skills
  2. Mais Shaban, Assistant Professor of Banking and Finance at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, and Research Fellow at EMEA, on financial inclusion and digital solutions
  3. Najat EL MEKKAOUI, Senior Economist and Professor in economics at the University Paris Dauphine, and Senior Research Fellow at EMEA, covering social enterprises
  4. Carlo Sessa,  former President and Research Director at the Institute of Studies for the Integration of Systems (ISINNOVA) and Member of the EMEA Executive Board talking about the regenerative economy

The session was moderated by Dr. Yeganeh Forouheshfar, Senior Researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA. Each expert presented the recommendations in their recently established policy papers. Each paper provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape and then provides numerous recommendations for its improvement in terms of friendliness to entrepreneurial endeavours.

The INVESTMED Project (InNoVativE Sustainable sTart-ups for the MEDiterranean) is co-funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2014-2020. INVESTMED has a duration of 30 months, ending in December 2023, with a total budget of €3.8 Million, of which €3.4 Million (90%) is funded by ENI CBC MED.
