On the 15th and 16th of May 2024, EMEA Research Assistant Paula Pazos Puig attended the 18th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), held in Braga, Portugal.

During the session, the three Standing Committees presented their work on key matters such as socioeconomic development, security, human rights, and digital transformation and governance. Member parliaments and relevant actors then engaged in enriching discussions about Euro-Mediterranean cooperation on these issues, resulting in the adoption of all six proposed resolutions.

PAM is an international organization that brings together 34 member parliaments from the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions to discuss critical issues of common concern and work together towards innovative solutions, with the goal of achieving stability, prosperity, and peace in the region.

EMEA and PAM signed a MoU on 2015 to explore ways in which they can cooperate in implementing their respective mandates, including consultations, joint research and analytical studies, meetings, events, exchanges of information, and other common activities, in support of economic integration, creation of employment and social development in the Mediterranean region.
