Dallas, Texas. On October 24, 2024, the Brain Capital Alliance engaged as a founding sponsor and co-organizer of the event, “Building Brains: Unlocking Potential through Brain-Healthy Spaces”.
A growing body of research indicates that physical space profoundly impacts our brain health. However, the regenerative capacity of our buildings and public places remains largely untapped.
The Brain Capital Alliance joined the Center for Advanced Design Research and Evaluation (CADRE), the University of Texas at Dallas Center for BrainHealth and HKS, along with an exclusive group of designers, real estate leaders, researchers, brain scientists and policymakers, to explore the intersection of the human brain and the built environment.
Dr Harris Eyre MD PhD, Executive Director of the Brain Capital Alliance and Advisor to the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), noted, “As we advance the brain-positive economic transformation, to stop and reverse the loss of global brain capital, the built environment is critical. The built environment influences our brains tremendously, given it is where we live, learn, work, and play throughout life. We must harness translational capacity from research to practice to engagement in global economic reform leadership activities”. Eyre is also Lead and Senior Fellow of Neuro-Policy for Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.
Through a series of keynotes, panel discussions and workshops, participants learned how to apply brain health research to their real estate strategies. This summit was a call to action to build brain capital within our organizations and cities by creating spaces that promote cognitive performance, well-being and belonging – an imperative in today’s fast-paced, digitally connected world.
