On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2025, the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry – ASCAME, a partner organization of EMEA, published an interview of EMEA’s Founder and President, Prof. Rym Ayadi.
In her interview Prof. Ayadi, who is also Senior CEPS Advisor and co-founder of the Brain Capital Alliance & Brain Economy Hub, highlights women as key drivers of socio-economic transformation in the Mediterranean but notes persistent inequalities in leadership, pay, financing, and unpaid care work. Gender stereotypes, lack of mentorship, and workplace biases hinder women’s leadership opportunities. To foster inclusivity, companies should implement Brain Capital strategies, promote work-life balance, and use AI to eliminate bias.
Financial barriers can be addressed through women-focused investment funds, AI-driven credit scoring, and alternative financing. The North Mediterranean region benefits from progressive policies, while the South faces cultural and legal challenges. Chambers of commerce should provide training and networking for women. Ayadi concludes that women drive economic growth, innovation, and social resilience, making Brain Capital investment essential for the region’s future.
To maximize women’s impact, Brain Capital must be at the heart of economic and policy strategies. By implementing inclusive policies, financial access, and leadership development, the Mediterranean region can harness women’s full potential in business and governance.

We would like to thank our valued partner ASCAME for highlighting this interview and for their commitment to advancing women’s leadership and empowerment across the Mediterranean.
