The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA) is honored to announce that Prof. Barbara Casu has joined its Advisory Board.
Prof. Casu is the Director of the Centre for Banking Research at Bayes Business School, City, University of London, where she is also Professor of Banking and Finance and Deputy Dean (Faculty and Research). She has been a member of EMEA’s Expert Panel since its founding in 2012, contributing her expertise in banking and finance.
In addition, the Centre for Banking Research and EMEA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on research and policy initiatives in the Euro-Mediterranean and African regions. This partnership aims to enhance expert knowledge, foster economic and social development, and promote transparency and inclusivity across these regions.
Prof. Casu’s research focuses primarily on empirical banking, with cross-disciplinary work covering financial regulation, structured finance, and corporate governance. She has published extensively, with over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, and is the author of the widely adopted textbook “Introduction to Banking” (Pearson FT).
Beyond academia, Prof. Casu has served as a consultant and visiting researcher for prestigious institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Commission (EC), the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), and the Building Societies Association (BSA).
