Brain Capital Alliance contributes to Indian National Task Force on Brain Health meeting

Barcelona, Spain, 15th, October 2024 – A “National Task Force on Brain Health” under the chairmanship of Dr. Rajinder K. Dhamija, Director, IHBAS, Delhi has been constituted by the Health and Family Welfare Division of the National Institution for Transforming India Aayog to strengthen brain health services in India.

Brain Capital Alliance Executive Director, Harris Eyre, today contributed to the sixth meeting of this Task Force. Eyre is also an advisor to the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association and Lead and Senior Fellow of the Neuro-Policy at the Rice University Baker Institute for Public Policy.

Eyre’s presentation was titled “The Brain Economy: A Catalyst for Indian Economic Growth”. In this presentation, Eyre noted how the brain economy model can energize and integrate key Indian Government policy priorities including:

  • Rapid GDP Growth
  • Infrastructure Development
  • Job Creation
  • Sector-Specific Growth – health, digital
  • International Collaboration
  • Inclusive Growth

Practical suggestions were offered on how the Task Force can more deeply engage with economic policy specialists in India.

This presentation took place after the successful Brain Economy Summit held during the Brain Days of the 79th United Nations General Assembly Science Summit where Dr Dhamija was a prominent voice and speaker.

Other speakers during the sixth Task Force meeting included Tarun Dua, Head of Brain Health at the World Health Organization and Andrea Winkler, Co-lead of the Global Brain Health Partnership, between Harvard University and the Technical University of Munich.

Eyre is working with the National Brain Health Task Force as well as the Global Brain Health Partnership.
