The President and Founder of EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, co-founder of the Brain Capital Alliance, and Dr. Harris Eyre, Senior Fellow at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, EMEA Advisor and Lead of the Brain Capital Alliance, participated at the Tech Tour Mental & Brain Health 2024, which took place on 2 & 3 May 2024, at the Nova Business School in Carcavelos, Portugal.
Dr. Eyre delivered the keynote speech “Building Brain Capital”.
Prof Ayadi participated in the Panel “Is – or how can we make – mental and brain health a government policy priority?”.
In her intervention Prof. Ayadi underlined:
“Investing in our mental health is not just a matter of improving individual lives but is crucial for the collective brain capital that drives the prosperity of our society. By focusing on policies that enhance mental health, governments and organizations can boost societal productivity and innovation.
Highlighting the economic incentives of mental health investments shows how they can lead to greater economic output and efficiency. Finally, better mental health is linked to broader social benefits, including enhanced community well-being and reduced healthcare costs.”
The panel included Filipa Costa, Managing Director, Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson Portugal and Stephanie Kramer, Deputy Executive Director, European Brain Council. It was moderated by Conn O’Neill, Global Public & Government Affairs Lead at Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH.
The event brought together 40 of the most promising Mental Health & Brain tech companies, as selected by 40 of the most active investors and corporate partners in the sector.
