EMEA President Prof. Rym Ayadi participates at the Annual Conference of Mediterranean Central Banks

The President of EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, Professor at The Bayes Business School and Chair of the Banking Stakeholders Group (BSG) of the European Banking Authority (EBA) participated at the Annual Conference of Mediterranean Central Banks: “Building Resilience in Uncertain Times: Safeguarding Financial Stability, Encouraging Investments”. The event was co-organised by Banco de Espana, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and took place on Monday 31 October 2022 at the OECD Istanbul Centre for Global Relations, Turkey.

Prof Ayadi participated as a speaker in the session “Enhancing the Business Environment for Productive Investments”. In her intervention she underlined the importance to consider resilience in uncertain times as the key underlying fundamental to attract sustainable investment that create employment allow transfer of technologies and are sustainable and aligned to net zero scenario.

The session discussed how are business environments discouraging investments in the countries of the region; what are the priorities to improve investment policies; reforms needed to strengthen enabling environments for Public-Private Partnerships; and what are the best practices in the region.

The Annual Conference of Mediterranean Central Banks is the seventh edition of a joint initiative that aims to foster a comprehensive dialogue on the economic and financial situation of the Mediterranean region from the perspective of the governors of Central Banks of the Mediterranean region.
