Dr Mais Sha’ban, Assistant Professor of Banking and Finance at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan and EMEA Research Fellow, was one of the speakers at the webinar “Advancing youth financial inclusion to boost job creation and growth in the Mediterranean region”, which took place online on 10 June 2021.
The event panelists discussed the specific obstacles that the youth is facing to access finance, notably considering the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, while devising tailored actions, policies and legislative measures that can lead to improvements.
At her intervention Dr Sha’ban highlighted the need for a youth-friendly inclusive regulatory environment, financial literacy and digital awareness strategies, and financial products and guarantee programs that meet the needs and preferences of youth.
The event was organised by the MED Confederation, the alliance of Euro-Mediterranean institutions and organisations promoting socio-economic cooperation in the Mediterranean region, in collaboration with the Financial Inclusion for the Arab Region Initiative (FIARI).
