The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participated at the presentation of the 7th edition of the Atlantic Currents Report at the RSAI World Congress 2021 which took place on 28 May 2021.
Prof. Ayadi presented her chapter “Preventing and Managing Debt Crises: The Role of Debt Transparency” at the Special Session “The COVID-19 Crisis Viewed from the South”. At her intention she highlighted that “Enhancing debt transparency is an essential pillar to realign the incentives between creditors and borrowers and to encourage private sector to participate to debt relief.”
The session panel included Salma Daoudi, Research Assistant in International Relations, Policy Center for the New South, Wilson Erumebor, Senior Economist, Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Isabelle Tsakok, Senior Fellow, Policy Center for the New South, and it was chaired by Prof. Eduardo A. Haddad, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The Atlantic Current’s 7th edition provides a unique overview and in-depth analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic as seen from the Atlantic, and the challenges it poses for the region. In this edition, the authors examine how COVID-19 has proved to be a destabilizing force in a wide range of sectors such as health, international relations, trade, energy or the economy. It is published by the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS), a Moroccan think tank aiming to contribute to the improvement of economic and social public policies that challenge Morocco and the rest of Africa as integral parts of the global South. PCNS is an associate member Euro-Mediterranean Network for Economic Studies – EMNES.
