EMEA organises workshop on building an ecosystemic transition model with transformative actions

The Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), one of the partners of the Interreg Med Renewable Energy project, hosted the workshop “Building an ecosystemic transition model with transformative actions” at its HQs at Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 03 November 2022.

The effects of climate change are becoming more severe year by year, increasing the vulnerability of the Mediterranean region in terms of health, ecological biodiversity, security of resource supply and the economy. Amid the current uncertainty, there is a clear need to accelerate the implementation of climate change adaptation solutions that are effective in the short term and resilient in the long term.

The workshop opened with a welcome address by EMEA President Prof. Rym Ayadi who highlighted that “We need to move towards a transformative scenario, built on a multi-Stakeholders approach, private and public engagement for “the future we want” that is aligned with TRIS Economic Model – i.e. Transparent governance, Responsible living, Inclusive economy and Sustainable energy and environment and compliant with the net zero scenario”

EMEA is launching the Sustainable Transformative Alliance (STA) for Transformative Thinking and Action, for Europe the Mediterranean and Africa. STA is a forward looking trans-disciplinary and multi stakeholders initiative that seeks to accelerate sustainable economic models and actions that are transformative and aligned with a net zero scenario. The STA initially builds on four pillars: biodiversity and natural capital, territorial resilience, green entrepreneurship and skills, and financing mechanisms.
